Be Coachable

Throughout the years I always knew I was destined to do more than just work a 9-5 day in and day out. I knew my talents and ideas weren’t being used to their full potential in the office working on someone else’s dream. I knew I was suppose to change the world, one life at a time. I just never understood how I would do it!

I have.

So where was I to start? I started following people who were changing lives on social media. I searched Facebook like pages, Twitter pages and motivational pages from Instagram.

I wanted to know:

What they were doing?
Who was in their circle?
What were their daily habits?
How did they invest their money?

I found that most of them had things that I didn’t have… I don’t mean materialistic… I mean the one thing that really made a difference… The one thing that I could have that wouldn’t cost a thing… A Mentor!

What is a Mentor?

Per the Business Dictionary… A mentor is:

An Employee training system under which a senior or more experienced individual (the mentor) is assigned to act as an advisor, counselor, or guide to a junior or trainee. The mentor is responsible for providing support to, and feedback on, the individual in his or her charge.

Finding a person who is touching lives the way you want to isn’t hard. You can study their daily habits, you can watch what they do on social media. How do they reach out to their audience? But even more importantly… How do they hold themselves accountable to reach the goals that they create for themselves?

What is accountability?

Accountability is: The obligation of an individual or organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results in a transparent manner. It also includes the responsibility for money or other entrusted property.

More than likely, every successful person has a person (or group of people) in their corner to hold them accountable for the tasks that they need to complete to reach their goals.

So what happens when you find a mentor… who holds you accountable… What’s next?

What does that mean?

What is the coachable definition?

Being coachable means putting that trust in that mentor or group of mentors to take yourself to the next level! It means putting feelings aside and getting the job done! It means being transparent with yourself and truthful about your progress towards your goals.

Why I Became an Entrepreneur!


For years I sat and pondered what life would be like working for myself. That’s the thought that just kept beating my brain up.

I have seen the ins and outs of the corporate world. I have been on the side of contract work. I have seen people attached to a desk for a third of their day, 5 to 6 days a week, for years. I have witnessed those same hard working individuals be let go with little to no notice because of “company downsizing”.

The stress of not knowing if you would be needed during the upcoming holiday months or if the project you were working on went another route was insane.

How would you have a way to keep a roof over your head?

It was a pretty nerve-racking time. After a really bad car accident in 2013, I was on disability for 9 months while learning to walk again. I made my own rules. I woke up when I felt like it. I ate what I wanted when I wanted. I shopped when I wanted. And above all, there were no bed times! Having that type of freedom for that long made me ache in pain when it was time to go back to work! I knew then that I had to do something that would give me back my freedom.

So here are 9 reasons why I chose entrepreneurship!


I will decide when I have had enough! I decide when it is time to pick another business venture. I decide what to invest in. Knowing that every single effort I put forth will pay out in profits makes me work even harder. The only way I would fail is if I quit!


Make Your Own Schedule

Do you know how wonderful it is to go see a new movie on a Wednesday around noon? It’s quiet, you get to pick whatever seat you want AND there are NO LINES! And there is the simple fact that most mornings I am up around 5, but there are some days I don’t feel like getting up until 9 or 10. And I don’t have any shame about it.

No Dress Codes!

Many entrepreneurs work from the comforts of their own homes. So guess what that means… You guessed it, conference calls in my Sponge Bob pajamas!

Be Your Own Boss

If you have ever been in the customer service industry, you know you are at the beck and call of customer traffic. So if you are doing the “potty dance” or are late for your lunch break, guess what, you have to wait.

Never Miss an Event

How many times have you missed a sporting event or school function of one of your children because of your work schedule? Or maybe you missed out on a family vacation because you either hadn’t “earned” vacation days or the office was too hectic for you to take the time off.

Save Money
(Especially during Tax Time)
What if you were able to save money just by doing the simple things you already do? When you are an entrepreneur, everything that you use for your business is a business expense. Traveling to a client’s site means savings on your car expenses. Do you use the internet in your home office to process business related transactions? Earn What You Are Worth

If you have ever been underpaid and overworked, you know exactly where I am coming from. I have witnessed different people doing the same work get two totally different salaries. No matter your prior occupation, no matter your education, no matter your race or religion…when you are working for yourself, you get out as much as you put in.

Help Others

When you have more resources, you give more. You help more. You have the time and finances to assist others when they need it. It’s a powerful feeling to pour back into those around you.


Personal Satisfaction

Working for myself makes me feel good about myself. I am confident. I know that every single decision that I make, I make for the betterment of my family. When a successful project is complete, I feel pride knowing that I gave it my best. I feel a sense of completeness when a client has a huge grin on their face as they view a finished project. That energy alone is ridiculous!

Are there sacrifices with entrepreneurship? Absolutely. But they are sacrifices that I don’t mind making for myself versus someone else.
